On Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m. I set off by long distance coach ('bus) from Bristol to LHR for my flights back to SRQ via ATL. En route I rummaged through my carryon bag only to discover that I'd left my passport in the Hotel room. Gadzucks; my flights home were under threat. At LHR at the Delta reps. told me that the cut off for boarding was 10:30 a.m. NO PASSPORT? NO FLIGHTS HOME! (for days?) I 'phoned my brother Martyn to relate my tale of woe. Dear Martyn raced to the Hotel (six or so miles west from his home); and grabbed my passport. Then (breaking speed limits) he drove like Jehu on the eastbound Motorway from Bristol to LHR There he handed me the passport, at about 10:15 a.m. Then the DELTA staff surrounded me with what I can only describe as tenderness and efficiency to make sure that I boarded in time. The team of Martyn Povey/Delta staff be praised!
It's been a long time coming but I now have an early timetable for the essential (but not critical) surgery to improve the blood flow to my right leg. There is no pain in that leg, but a dull ache which makes it difficult to walk. This has been happening for years. The time has come for surgery without which I could develop severe wounds which would not heal; or even gangrene. This morning I had an excellent consultation with Dr. Inkyoung K Parrach; and Dr. Douglas Dorsay. Dr.Dorsay has been my primary vascular Doctor for many years. Sadly he has Parkinsons disease; so his forte is diagnosis not surgery. Dr. Parrach will be the surgeon. The Doctors are unanimous in their recommendation that the surgery should take place after my visit to the United Kingdom. This is primarily because it will be complicated surgery, with a three-day hospital stay. I will have a stress test on July 7th, with a view to surgery on July 16th. How fortunate I am to have excellent...
Mixed messages from Delta My Sunday 29th LHR - ATL flight will take off two hours later than originally scheduled. This means I will not be able to make the scheduled ATL-SRQ flight. I am getting mixed messages from Delta as to whether they will/can re-schedule it. (Attempts to phone Delta are hopeless - the wait time to reach an agent is 12 hours!) I trust that when I check in at LHR the agent will work her/his magic to get me into SRQ on Sunday as planned; or if a Monday flight is the only option they will afford me a hotel stay, This note is FYI NO SUGESTIONS PLEaSE! On a world scale this is a mere inconvenience. I comfort myself with the knowledge that I've never not gotten home; and that Cooper is in good hands jmp
