Garibaldi Biscuits and my Neighbour ( ref Golden Fruit Raisin Cookes)
My neighbour Cheney Green is my go-to person when I need something fixed in my house.
I often thank him with Sourdough Bread from Mama G's. He calls me the "Bread Genie".
I didn't get to Mama G's on Saturday, so I gave Cheney some "Garibaldi" biscuits. They are sold at our local Publix Supermarket. (They were one of my favourites in the olden days). They are filled with currants which girls and boys of my era called Squashed Flies.
Good and gracious Cheney fondly remembered a similar American version from his youth - it was filled with raisins not currants.
Here is the Wiki story. It mentions that old time American cookie: "Golden Fruit Raisin"
